Listening and watching Chuck talk about the two of them, he can sense the love the other man has for him. He's handed the pictures, and smiles. He doesn't recognize any of it, but, the two of them look very happy. "It, looks like a lot of fun. I, want to remember." His smile fades, setting the pictures aside, sitting on the bed.
Perhaps it was just random chance, but, when Raleigh sat down, he did so on his side of the bed. He looked up to Chuck who was standing in front of him, his facial expression showed worry. "This, has to be so hard for you."
"It was." Chuck says uncharacteristically softly as Raleigh settles himself into his usual spot on their bed. The next expression that falls from the blonde haired man's mouth is typical Beckett, that Chuck huffs a laugh and shakes his head, "Yeah, you're still in their somewhere." he says rolling his eyes playfully at his other half. "You're the one that's injured and the one that is going through tough shit, and yet you're worried about how I'm feeling?" he starts with a small unbelieving chuckle "I'm fine, I've been through a hell of a lot worse, this, this right here" he emphasizes by tapping Raleigh's temple, "this is a minor setback. This is nothing compared to what we've been through."
Every word clenches around Chuck's heart, guilt grasping him tighter and tighter as his saint of a boyfriend looks up at him with care and worry for Chuck. All after what his temper tantrum spiraled against Raleigh's health. It was all his fault. He didn't know what the hell he had done right to ever get Raleigh to look at him, yet enjoy being with him, and he'd blown it, Karma was obviously collecting today.
Chuck's demeanor changed as he went through the scolding of himself in his head, until he locked sad eyes with Raleigh once more, "Are you hungry? Thirsty? Want a shower or something? Anything?" he asked feeling a bit useless, he wasn't used to taking care of anyone but himself, which he was shit at anyway.
The Alaskan sat there, listening to Chuck, he was going to apologize again, but felt that would only exacerbate things, so instead he just rubbed a hand over his own right bicep as a sort of nervous tick, not really sure what to say.
He stopped when Chuck started asking him questions. "Hm? Oh. Uh.." he considered all of the above, "...mm, just, feel like resting, though, I guess I am a little thirsty." he got to his feet, looking for wherever a drink might be.
"Oh! Right, that would make sense, yeah?" he says stepping around Raleigh to their desk and opening the little mini fridge that they had secretly hidden behind a desk cabinet. Chuck pulled out a few different varieties and showed them to Raleigh. "This is what we usually drink. My favorite is the gold one," he says giving it a little shake to indicate which one he was referencing to. "I think you like it too though you always say it tastes weird, but you say that about every Australian thing i make you try." he says throwing him a playful roll of his eyes.
"The one in the middle is your favorite, always make sure that there is a case on every shipment from the US that comes in." he says, and then of course the other one is water, which is what medical wants you to be drinking but, eh, what the hell do they know, eh?" he says.
He's trying, he's keeping it together despite the guilt that is consuming him, but damn it, he is going to do what he can to make up the shit Raleigh is going through because of Chuck's attitude.
The Alaskan listens, and goes ahead and takes a drink from the middle one as suggested, and a smile forms on his lips. "Mm, I apparently have good taste." He looked at Chuck, "In, more than just drinks." The smile changed to a cheeky smirk in Chuck's direction.
Chuck is rarely speechless due to him rarely being phased by anything, but the obvious flirt was completely unexpected that he stood gaping at his other half like a fish, before he recovered with a classic Hansen rolling of the eyes and completely ignoring the blush of color creeping up his neck to his cheeks. He knew Raleigh liked him, obviously he did to put up with him for so long, but there was a part of him that was pleased, despite the situation, that Raleigh Raleigh found him attractive.
"Careful, your taste has gotten you into trouble before..." he says with a smirk of his own, which drops into a frown.... trouble like lost memories.
"I wouldn't know." Raleigh smiles, and seems to be taking it all in stride, and accepting that his memory is gone. He figures that if it comes back, great, but if it doesn't, he can't really do anything about it, so there's no use worrying about it.
"I mean, I'm sorry but, I- don't remember you, us." A hard truth, that he knows they both know, but feels as though it needed to be stated. "But," he looks at a picture of the two of them, "he," referring to himself, "looks happy to be with you. And, I owe it to him, and you, and myself, to work on the whole, us, thing." Okay, so he's not the most articulate, give him a break, he did just lose his memory after all.
The words hung heavy in their shared quarters, the simpleness of the situation brought into the light instead of looming in the shadows like the rest of the demons that have haunted Chuck over his years. If Raleigh is willing to push on, diving head first into their new situation, then who is Chuck to hold him back? The guilt will be there from time to time, sure, and he will have to tell Raleigh the entire situation at some point, but they would cross that bridge when they got to it, or when Chuck built up enough courage to do so, but until then, he owed it to Raleigh, to be in it 100% with him.
"Well then..." he says moving over to the American's side, looking down at the picture of them, a faint, fond, smirk appearing on his lips, "guess I really am as irresistible as they say after all." he snickers, leaning over and pressing his lips against Raleigh's lightly stubbled cheek, before ducking out of the way on instinct and over to the door.
"You up for a walk?" he asks holding up Max's collar and a leash, a teasing smile still gracing his features, he'll let Raleigh know he means his dog in a minute.
Good timing Chuck, Raleigh is about to give him a playful shove after that, but the other pilot dodged it for the door. The smile fades though, and a look of complete bewilderment replaces it.
"Uh..." Apparently the old him was into some kinky stuff, as far as he knew anyway. It was enough to make him very noticeably blush red. "You, want to walk me, with, that?"
He had wanted to go further, but the redness creeping up his boyfriends neck caused his laughter to bubble out. "Sorry mate!" he says between chuckles, "but you should have seen your face! Guess you're not into that kind of fun after all." he says before continuing with another set of giggles, that were very manly thank you very much.
"No, I need you to meet the other man than you share my heart with." He says fondly reaching out for Raleigh's hand. "He's with Herc right now."
"Other man?" Sorry Chuck, Raleigh is piecing it together still. Were they in an open relationship? Then, it hits him. "Oh! It's... it's a dog. ...right?" Okay, he's still not completely sure, and, he needs to be, so he's going to ask.
He nods, "Not just any dog - he's the most loyal and lovable ball of wrinkles on the planet." he says with a smile that shows off his dimples - a rare treat. He's trying. He owes it to Raleigh to be a better version of his previous self, might as well start off one a positive note. He just needs to remember no to be so elusive with his words, needs to remember that Raleigh can't, that he will be learning it all over.
"He's already claimed you, so don't be surprised if he rubs all over your legs." he says, a fond look gracing his features, "though I'm pretty sure you bribed him with the extra bacon you always get from the culinary staff every morning." he says rolling his eyes. "Everybody fucking loves you, it's really annoying." he adds with a half teasing smile.
Ah, those dimples. In all of the uncertainty, they make Raleigh smile in return, their joy is contagious. He can understand why he, why the other him anyway, fell for Chuck as he watches the other man talk with the warmth practically radiating from him.
Rals rubs the back of his neck and offers a sheepish smile, "Sorry?" Apparently the other version of him was a good guy, liked by people and dogs alike. "But, everyone loves him." The smile fades, "They don't, know me, at all. Cause, I don't, even know me." Honestly? Mentally he felt kind of like a child wandering around in a pitch black room, looking for a way out, or help.
He cleared his throat and forced himself to smile again, at least a little. "I look forward to meeting him, and, I'll definitely try the bacon now for sure."
It takes Chuck a few moments to catch on to what Raleigh means when he references to his previous self as him, and damn doesn't that bring up the wound from earlier that day that he is trying to bury. His smile fades again as his eyes search the floor for something to distract his guilt. He connects with the blonde again when he mentions bribing Max with bacon and he can't help but close the distance, wanting to get it out before he loses his chance.
"Look Rahleigh" he starts looking directly into the set of eyes he gets lost in on a regular basis. "I mean it, there are a lot of people out there who are so worried about you and some that won't know what happened this morning, but they all care about you." he takes a breath, "Trust me, you don't want to throw that away, even if you can't recall the details." he says looking back to the floor again briefly. "I'm not saying you have to be best friends with everyone, but don't shut them out, not forever anyway." he manages to finish, speaking from his own lonely upbringing. "Promise me that, you're like the only light in this place sometimes." He finishes, and the sadness that he was the one that snuffed it out settles into his gut.
